1051: Qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix starts in less than ten minutes. Follow Lewis and Jenson's progress here on The Race 1.0b.
1055: A quick reminder on the session format:
1056: Seven cars are eliminated in the first 20-minute session, then another seven in the next 15 minutes.
1056: Then it's a ten-minute shootout between the top ten.
1057: Last year our cars were fifth and 11th on the grid.
HAM:"Radio check, I hear you loud and clear."
1100: Both our cars are ready to head out when the time is right.
Pit: "OK Jenson straight out please. We'll get you out behind Petrov."
Pit: "Jenson, Lewis is coming out behind you."
Pit: "Lewis, track is clear so drive straight out."
Pit: "Jenson, all cars behind you are on their out laps. We need to make a gap to Petrov please."
1105: Jenson adjusting the balance of the car on the track. Coming around to start his lap shortly.
1105: Keep your eyes on Jenson and Lewis's telemetry as they completes their first laps which shows their speed, braking and more in real-time.
1106: Jenson and Lewis on their first timed laps now. Lewis 30.901 in the first sector, fastest of all. Jenson 30.949, second.
1108: Jenson goes fifth with a 1:56.130, Lewis does a 1:55.976 for fourth.
BUT:"In this lap, traffic."
Pit: "OK Jenson, box this lap, understand, you are plus two Liuzzi, Liuzzi's on a lap."
1109: Lewis doing a second lap and improves to a 1:55.869.
BUT:"Getting traffic at the end of the lap was a problem."
BUT:"Did people find time on their second lap?"
Pit: "Some peopel have found time on their second lap but it's not a lot."
Pit: "Lewis remember white line and pitlane speed limiter."
1112: After their first runs Lewis and Jenson lie sixth and eighth. The top 17 will progress to Q2.
1113: The team are preparing the two MP4-25s for their next runs.
Pit: "Jenson brake temperatures look good."
1115: Lewis is the quickest driver so far through the speed trap - 313kph. Keep an eye on the drivers top speeds on the telemetry below.
1115: Lewis and Jenson have both gone out for their final runs of the session.
HAM:"I can find more time on this run."
Pit: "Jenson, Webber in front of you is on an in-lap."
1117: Jenson starting his second timed lap.
1117: Lewis now also in sector one on a flying lap.
1117: Less than two minutes left in the session.
1118: Both drivers have set their best times in the first sector.
1118: Jenson does a 1:55.715 and goes sixth.
1119: Lewis sets a 1:55.341 which puts him up to fourth.
HAM:"Box this lap, OK."
1121: Jenson has also returned to the pits. With the sixth and 11th quickest times, both our cars are through to Q2.
1123: Drivers and engineers discussion how to improve the set-up for their next runs. Talking about changes to the front of the car.
Pit: "Jenson we'll be ready to go fairly shortly."
1127: Q2 has now started.
Pit: "Lewis, track is clear."
1127: Lewis and Jenson return to the track.
1130: Jenson and Lewis now doing their flying laps.
1130: We see some of the highest G-loadings on the cars at turns 19 and 20 which Jenson is approaching now. Watch the telemetry to see.
1132: Lewis goes fifth with a 1:54.707, Jenson seventh on a 1:55.478
Pit: "OK Lewis box this lap."
1133: Both the cars are back in the pits.
BUT:"The tyres lasted better than they did this morning."
HAM:"Car's sliding around a bit. It's very hot for the tyres."
1137: Lewis is ready to leave the pits.
1138: Lewis's car is being fired up.
1138: Out goes Lewis, he has 15 seonds of clear track in front of him.
1138: Jenson goes out too.
1142: Jenson improves in the first sector with a 30.549.
1142: Lewis has improved his time in the long middle sector on this lap.
1143: Jenson goes tenth with a 1'55.168 putting him tenth.
1143: Lewis's time was just 0.07s off his best so he stays sixth.
Pit: "Both drivers are box this lap, Lewis is 23s away."
HAM:"Glad we're through to Q3."

HAM:"Turn six is very bumpy, which makes turn seven tricky."
HAM:"Can I get an overlay of my times so I can see where I can improve?"

1150: Lewis has rejoined the track.
Pit: "OK Jenson can you slot in behind Lewis."
Pit: "OK Jenson gap now is eight seconds"
1154: Lewis does a 1:56.828 and goes third.
1156: Lewis has come in to change tyres and Jenson is doing the same.
Pit: "Lewis, Sutil behind you is on a timed lap, please allow him past to get yourself a gap."
Pit: "Jenson your gap is good."
1158: Lewis has begun his flying lap and Jenson is begining his.
1200: Lewis crosses the line and goes fourth with a 1:55.217.
1200: Jenson is eighth with a 1:55.672
Pit: "OK Lewis remember the white line and you'll be going into parc ferme."
1210: The team are now inspecting the cars following the session.
