NGK Spark Plugs first took up the challenge of Formula 1 together with Honda in 1964. The performance of NGK spark plugs was recognised when Honda achieved their first victory the following year and soon NGK plugs were fitted in many other Formula 1 engines.
In 1998, a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes fitted with NGK spark plugs took NGK to its 100th victory in Formula 1, and in 2009 cars fitted with NGK spark plugs achieved eleven wins out of a total of seventeen races, stretching the total to 240 wins.
